Photo-graphies et un peu plus…

“Sur une branche, perchée avec…”, un rendez-vous quotidien avec un membre de l’échomunauté… On finit la journée avec Robert Walgate, qui a eu la gentillesse de commenter ses trois photos…

What is the role of photography in your life? I am a writer, and for me a photography is an attempt – usually unsuccessful! – to write a poem in light.

What is the story of your picture (Affection shared, G7-63)? The story of « affection » is that I was on assignment in Havana, and a reggae singer had invited me to meet his family after I wrote a song for his band.

What kind of association of ideas led you to this picture? The association is between lovemaking and its offspring, the children, who here are learning about love. And the girl looking at the camera associates the viewer with the viewed. Hence a multiple link with the « previous generation », which as a picture showed children bonding in friendship – and with the photographer – after school.

What is the story of your picture (Colors, G7-120)? The rainbow I saw through the weeping wisteria flowers behind our house, one evening in Spring, after the rain.

What kind of association of ideas led you to this picture? The contrast of colours was epiphanic, speaking of the mystery of colour and light and existence, and I got a similar sensation from the previous picture of coloured bowls in a shed.

What is the story of your picture (Fireflies, G7-141)? The « fireflies » were taken on a canoeing trip in the Canadian outback, in the wild beauty among woods, lakes, loons, beaver, moose and bears, with me, my wife, my son and his new partner.

What kind of association of ideas led you to this picture? As for this association, sparks from a fire were mankind’s first « fire-works », so this picture too leads back doubly to a « previous generation ».

Adriana Cruz sera la prochaine à se poser sur la branche… et l’avant-dernière pour le moment !
